August – A Time for Promoting Eye Health!

This month is all about eye health! August has been designated as National Eye Exam Month and Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month. If it has been a while since you’ve had an eye exam, use this time to get your eyes checked. Regular eye exams can detect serious vision issues and evaluate overall eye health, so that any potential problems can be addressed early on. Issues like glaucoma, cataracts, and diseases of the cornea can be serious, which is why regular eye exams are important to detect abnormalities. Early detection is key and your vision is worth it!

In addition, eye exams can also detect other conditions and illnesses as well, like diabetes and cancer. Check out the article, “Get An Eye Exam: Arthritis to Cancer Seen in Eye,” by Susan James from ABC News:  http://abcnews.go.com/Health/dozens-diseases-diagnosed-simple-eye-exam/story?id=16111097#.UA7rM6A–Sp.
