In Honor of Memorial Day

American Flag

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed each year on the last Monday in the month of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. This observance was created to remember and honor fallen soldiers after the Civil War, and later became a federal holiday in 1971.
