A Couple Breast Cancer Statistics

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Among other posts throughout the month, information and links will be posted in hopes of spreading the word about this very destructive disease.

From a historical perspective, more than 2.8 million women have completed treatment or are currently being treated for breast cancer in the United States alone.

Statistically speaking about breast cancer in the United States for 2013:

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in her lifetime

1 in 1000 men will receive the same diagnosis

232,000 plus new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected in women this year (Additionally another 64,000 plus new cases of non-invasive types are expected.)

2200 plus new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected in men

39,000 plus women will not survive their diagnosis

400 plus men will not survive theirs either
