December 7, 1941

The attack on the United States Pacific Fleet centered at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii began at dawn on Sunday, December 7, 1941. Japan’s naval aviation forces launched the attack there and on other military targets in an effort to disable the United Stated Fleet.  In an era of already tense relations between the two countries, their goal was to expand the Japanese Empire.

Lasting less than two hours, the attack, claimed more than 2,400 lives, wounded 1,000 more, forced the United States of America to defend itself and plunged the USA into World War II.
